3D TV Has Arrived!

panasonic 3d

The Consumer Electronics Show (CES), the world's largest trade show for consumer technology, in Las Vegas was held January 7-10, and the major technology trends focused on this year included 3D TV, mobile DTV, Green Technology, Connected TV, and Apps.

3D TV was the main focus for most of the TV manufacturers' including Panasonic, Sony, Toshiba, JVC, Samsung and LG, and the preliminary displays and prototypes did not disappoint!  This new technology will allow you to watch 3D movies and tv content in your own home the same way you view 3D at the movie theater.

Later this year, many companies will be releasing their full HD 3D TVs, and 3D Blu-ray players. In addition, DirecTV will be providing 3D content without the need to purchase new set-top boxes, and ESPN also announced that on June 11, it will kick off its ESPN 3D network featuring all 3D programming.  Pricing and specific release dates have not yet been announced, so stay tuned for more information.

Here are some questions for 3D TV that were answered by Panasonic's key developers:

What is full HD 3D? Full HD video in frame sequential format is the format used when showing Hollywood 3D movies in theaters and has been selected by Panasonic and other manufacturer's to ensure that full HD images for the left and right eyes are displayed frame by frame ensuring that consumers get the same quality as movie theaters in their own homes.

What difference is there between the full HD 3D format and half HD 3D format?  Full HD has double the video data as half HD.  Full HD delivers the same high resolution of Blu-ray discs in 3D. The difference in picture quality is apparent to consumers and the quality and fine detail of full HD 3D video differs significantly from half HD where the resolution is cut in half.

Are 3D glasses required?  At this time, 3D viewing glasses are needed not only to view 3D but also to gain the highest picture quality.

Will you need a 3D-capable Blu-ray player?  Yes, you will need a 3D Blu-ray player in order to view in 3D.  If you play a 3D disc on current Blu-ray disc players, they can only be viewed in 2D.

Introducing Simaudio's NEW 750D Digital-to-Analog Converter/CD Transport

moon 750dSimaudio has just introduced their 750D Digital-to-Analog Converter/CD Transport.  The 750D features the most advanced digital technology and is the very first 32-bit fully asynchronous digital audio playback system to reach the marketplace.

The 750D is a fully balanced differential dual-mono design featuring new circuitry (an asynchronous jitter elimination system) built around the ESS SABRE32 Reference Audio DAC.  The conversion process uses 8 DAC's per channel working in 32-bit Hyperstream. The result is musical reproduction that was previously unattainable from digital media (CD, computer, music server, etc..).

The CD drive system is mounted on Sim's M-Quattro gel-based 4-point floating suspension for vibration damping , allowing for ambient and spatial cues in recordings to come to life.  The back panel features 4 digital inputs, and 2 digital outputs.
